The Top 20 Languages in Nigeria

09/09/2014

Nigeria is booming!  The future looks bright and we at African Language Solutions predict the demand for language localization and translation into and out of Nigerian languages is going to boom too!

As the caring, sharing type we thought we would invest some time in producing a report on the language landscape of Nigeria. With over 500+ languages however, we decided to only concentrate on the top 20 most spoken languages.

We are now delighted to publish our report entitled, “Language in Nigeria”. If you would like your own copy for free, simply download the report using the link at the end of the blog.

Within the 33-page report we cover why Nigeria is so important internationally, look at the main language families of Nigeria and of course delve deeper into that top 20 which covers Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Fulfulde, Kanuri, Tiv, Izon/Ijaw, Ibibio, Anaang, Edo, Berom, Ebira, Igala, Gbagyi, Idoma, Izii, Isekiri and Isoko.

The report is useful for translation agencies and LSPs, organisations or people going into Nigeria or those who simply have an interest in languages of the country.
